Vern Gray

Vern Gray, a dedicated artist and educator based in Didsbury, Alberta, brings his passion for art to life through both his paintings and his commitment to teaching. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary, Vern has spent recent years balancing his role as a full-time art teacher in Airdrie with his evolving career as an exhibiting artist. As a longstanding member of Artpoint, he has actively contributed to the local art community and showcased his work in various exhibitions. Vern’s creative process is influenced by his love for photography and travel, which imbues his pieces with a sense of place and narrative. Striving to capture the inherent realism of his subjects, he also explores abstract elements, playing with shape, color, form, and mark making to add depth and complexity. His goal is to continue growing as a visual artist, bringing new dimensions to his work while inspiring and mentoring the next generation of artists in his classroom.
